Referral to treatment waiting time statistics for November 2011

National Statistics Office logoThe latest monthly statistical data on NHS referral to treatment waiting times (RTT)  has been published for November 2011. This information relates to Primary Care Trusts, Strategic Health Authorities, and NHS Trusts in England and has approval from the UK Statistics Authority in accordance with the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007.

The key points from the latest release are:

  •  a total of 326,553 admitted patients and 941,520 non-admitted patients completed their RTT pathway during November 2011
  • at national level, 91% of admitted patients and 97% of non-admitted patients completed their RTT pathway within a maximum of 18 weeks. For patients still waiting for treatment (incomplete pathways) at the end of November 2011, 91.1% were waiting within 18 weeks
  • the 95th percentile time waited for patients completing an RTT pathway in November 2011 was 22.2 weeks for admitted patients and 16.2 weeks for non-admitted patients
  • the average waiting time for patients completing an RTT pathway in November 2011 was 8.1 weeks for admitted patients and 4.0 weeks for non-admitted patients
  • for patients still waiting for treatment (incomplete pathways) at the end of November 2011, the median waiting time was 5.7 weeks and the 95th percentile was 22.8 weeks
